BFMS 8th Grade Team

ABOUT THE TEAM...

Adrienne Long, Science

I am thrilled to be teaching 8th-grade science at Bellows Falls Middle School. I look forward to working with your students and sharing the marvel of science with them.

I have been a math and science educator in traditional and non-traditional settings for ten years and have enjoyed every minute. I genuinely enjoy teaching science as learning about the world around us instills an appreciation for our magnificent planet.

I firmly believe in student-centered education that involves a variety of hands-on activities such as projects and labs. Throughout the class, students will learn about measurement, atomic structure, energy, rocks and minerals, and so much more1

In my free time I like to spend time in the great outdoors hiking, canoeing and generally enjoying the beauty that we are blessed with in the great state of Vermont.

My class website can be found here, and I can be reached directly at adrienne.long@wnesu.com.

Ben Jerome-Lee, Social Studies

Hi! My Ben Jerome-Lee and this is my third year at BFMS and eighth overall working as an educator. I've been fortunate enough to teach in Vermont, Massachusetts, and Southeast Asia. After receiving two degrees from Quinnipiac University in History and Communications, I later received my Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Vermont and have been working with middle schoolers ever since.

Throughout the year, starting with the Reconstruction and going up to present-day, we will be studying how different economic, political, and social developments impacted the human experience both domestically and abroad.  Using our study of various facets of American history as a mechanism, I hope to enable and empower students to see the connection between America's past and America's present.

Outside of school I like to hike, ski, coach, provide respite care through HCRS, and play softball as well as scrabble

Jim Henderson, Math

Hello, my name is Mr. Henderson. This is my first year teaching mathematics at Bellows Falls Middle School and my 25th year teaching at both the middle and high school levels. My philosophy of education is to meet the needs of each student and guide them to reach their true potential through developing  a growth mindset…In my spare time I enjoy spending time fly fishing, skiing, hiking, paddling, and gardening.

Throughout the year, 8th grade math students will study topics including expressions and equations, functions, geometry, and data analysis. The 8th grade year is focused on preparing students for the higher level courses they will take in high school as they will be given a solid base in algebra and geometry concepts that will give them the foundation that they will rely on.
