Physical Education
Physical Education (aka- Gym class) is focused on teaching students through activities about Physical Literacy. This aligns us with the standards and expectations Agency of Education for Vermont. Our philosophy and goal is to allow for students to be exposed to a variety of different activities each year, with hopes of exposing them to items they may be interested in once they are done with school.
Curriculum used in the previous years are such but not limited to: Soccer, Field Hockey, Football, Team Handball, Basketball, Kickball, Strength Training, Recreation Games, Volleyball, Pickleball, Dodgeball, Tennis, and many more.
Expectations for students bring a separate pair of sneakers and change of clothes for class. Students are expected to participate in all activities and the skill building that goes along with it. The curriculum is built to include all students of varying abilities, so there isn't a unit or activity that is unattainable for students to participate in. Our goal is to indentify and align the activities with the interests communicated by the students. Students are welcome to offer ideas for future Physical Literacy activities to develop a flexible and student friendly curriculum.
Grades for students are based on the student's desire and ability to participate in class. If a student has a medical issue or need, they do not get penalized for lack of participation. If students forget their sneakers or choose not to participate, that will affect their grade in Physical Education.
