Cafeteria-Farm to School Cafe

Farm to School Cafe website

  • Our school cafeteria serves breakfast and lunch in accordance with school nutrition program standards and guidelines.
  • The breakfast and lunch menus are posted each month on our school website.
  • Families may also elect to send in a home lunch instead.
  • Forms for free or reduced lunch will be sent home the first day of school. We encourage all families to complete the free/ reduced lunch form (even if you don’t think you qualify) as it helps the supervisory union maintain accurate reporting.
  • Breakfast is served between 7:30 and 7:55.
  • Second Chance breakfast/snack option served between 9:50 and 10:15.
  • At lunch, students are responsible for meeting our school-wide expectations regarding respect for ourselves, others, and property that are taught to each student and posted within the café.
  • Students are responsible for using inside voices and clearing their eating area, table, and floor around their table prior to lunch dismissal.
  • Losses of lunchroom privileges or being assigned a seat are potential consequences for students who demonstrate difficulty meeting cafeteria expectations.

Cafeteria Behavior

  • Work together to create a safe, respectful environment
  • Sit appropriately in your seat
  • Work together to pick up your area before leaving the cafeteria
  • Be a leader – set an example for others to follow
  • Invite others to eat lunch with you so people do not feel left out or alone
  • Use appropriate voice and tone
  • Use appropriate table manners
  • No throwing food or making a mess
  • No cell phone/device usage
  • No chromebook usage
  • No hats or hoods may be worn in the cafeteria

Food Allergies

  • BFMS is not a “nut-free” school.  However, we make specific accommodations to protect students with life-threatening food allergies.
  • Our cafeteria does not serve peanut products.
  • We appreciate your cooperation in creating a healthy and safe learning environment for all children.

Classroom Snacks

  • In addition to lunchtime all students will have breakfast/snack time available. We request that families use good judgment in sending snacks in with their child.
  • Crackers, granola bars, fresh fruit, veggie sticks, and yogurt are all good choices.
  • Chocolate bars and candy are not suitable snacks and do not provide adequate or balanced nutritional value to fuel the minds and bodies of growing young adolescents.
  • Students are not permitted to drink energy drinks at BFMS (i.e. Monsters, RockStars, etc.) and the drinking of caffeinated beverages (including tea and hot chocolate) and sugar sodas by students violates the Rockingham School District wellness policy.
  • Students and families are reminded that water is the only beverage permitted outside of the cafeteria. It is recommended that all students have a water bottle available for personal use each day.

After School Snack

  • Healthy Kids will prepare after school snacks for students staying for the after school program.
