Bus Expectations
- Students who ride the bus are considered to be “in school” upon boarding your bus.
- Bus riding expectations are posted in each bus. If a student misbehaves, violates expectations, commits vandalism or property damage, or acts in such a way as to violate the safety or rights of others (i.e. harasses or bullies) he or she will face progressive disciplinary consequences that could include restitution, possible police involvement, suspension, or potentially extended loss of bus riding privileges.
Students are also expected to:
- Use the crosswalks by the school
- Walk bicycles/ scooters/ skateboards on the sidewalk in front of the school and on all school grounds
- Park bicycles in the bike rack
- Use appropriate and respectful language
- Leave school grounds promptly following dismissal unless signed up for after school activities
Students are encouraged to:
- Use a bicycle lock-BFMS cannot be responsible for damaged, lost, or stolen bicycles/scooters/skateboards
- Use a helmet for personal safety, free helmets are available through the police department
Riding a Different Bus (effective Aug 2022)
- For students who need to ride a bus that is not their usual bus:
- The student brings a note to the school office.
- The office personnel approves the note and initials and returns to the student.
- The student MUST provide this note to the driver in order to ride that bus for the day.
- If the student does not have the note, the driver will not be permitted to let them on the bus.
- The reason for this new procedure is to make sure we know what students are on each bus every day.
Bus Stop Reminders
- Everyone has a right to feel safe and comfortable coming to school. Any actions at a bus stop that target fellow peers will result in school administrative action and potential loss of bus riding privileges. Please be respectful of your peers.
Walking / Biking to & from School
- If your child walks or bicycles to and from school, please indicate this on the enrollment form and return to the school office. We need to have this information on file. At BFMS we want to be a good neighbor and to have our students be safe and well regarded by community members.
- We ask that bicycling students allow pedestrians and groups of walkers to allow passage for other pedestrians.
